Togo Ministry Orders Public Offices to Clear Administrative Cases Within 1 Month

The Togolese government wants to speed up administrative processing and reduce delays affecting both government employees and members of the public. In a circular, the Ministry of Public Service and Social Dialogue, under the Presidency of the Council, reminded officials that administrative requests must be handled within the required deadlines. The delays affect several procedures related to public employees’ careers, including appointments, confirmation as permanent civil servants, promotions, corrections to official personal records, sick and maternity leave, resumption of duty and retirement. According to the ministry, these recurring delays “have a serious impact on the careers of affected employees” and show that administrative deadlines are not being met. They also affect the efficiency of public services and the quality of service provided to citizens. One Month to Clear the Backlog Directors general, directors and heads of department have been instructed to take immediate action to speed up the handling of outstanding requests.
