Zimbabwe Principal Detained Over ZIMSEC Exam Fee Non-Remittance

Rosemary Matunga was detained on allegations that she failed to remit the money to the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC). The school does not have its own examination centre number and had made arrangements to register its candidates at Hatfield Primary School. However, it is alleged that the school transferred payments for only six learners, leaving 41 others unregistered. The shortfall emerged as the examinations began on Monday, 21 September, leaving parents and guardians scrambling to meet ZIMSEC officials to find a way for their children to sit. Parents said they had paid the fees in full and were never told that the money had not been remitted.
