
Emrald Securities Launches ESS Finance in Cameroon's Microfinance Sector
Cameroonian financial services and investment group Emrald Securities Services (ESS) announced on October 5, 2026, its entry into the country’s microfinance market with ESS Finance, a subsidiary dedicated to microfinance activities. The move positions the group in a highly competitive sector with 385 licensed institutions in 2026, where liquidations and placements under provisional administration have also increased in recent years. Cameroon becomes the second market for ESS Finance, a category-two microfinance institution, after Gabon, where it has operated since February 2025. The new subsidiary also broadens ESS’s presence in its home market. The group, founded and led by Cameroonian Christian Din Dika (pictured), a former employee of the Douala Stock Exchange (DSX) and Moroccan banking group Attijariwafa, now has three operational entities in Cameroon.
