
Canyon Resources Faces Going Concern Uncertainty for Cameroon Project
Canyon Resources will need to secure additional financing by December 2026 to continue developing the Minim-Martap bauxite project in Cameroon. In its annual report for the financial year ended June 30, the Australian group said it has hired investment bank Jefferies to raise funds on top of the financing provided by AFG Bank Cameroon. The effort comes after Ernst & Young (EY), Canyon’s auditor, identified material uncertainty over the group’s ability to continue as a going concern. EY specifically drew attention to the financial conditions detailed in Canyon’s accounts. According to the auditor, “a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on the Group’s ability to continue as a going concern.” In other words, Canyon has not yet secured access to all the resources it needs to continue its operations. EY did not, however, issue an adverse opinion on the financial statements. “Our opinion is not modified in respect of this matter,” the firm said.
