Cameroon Road Project: Contractor Receives Formal Notice for Delays

Cameroon's CFA86.3 billion road rehabilitation program in the Far North region has fallen significantly behind schedule, with less than 35% completion despite roughly four-fifths of contractual timelines having elapsed, as reviewed on September 23, 2026. This critical infrastructure project, part of the Far North Territorial Development and Private Sector Promotion Project (PAT) and covering 173 km of national roads, faces substantial delays across its three construction contracts. While the contractor for Lot 1 has received a formal notice, amendments including deadline extensions are reportedly being prepared for Lots 2 and 3, indicating ongoing negotiations and attempts to salvage the project timeline. The African Development Bank (AfDB) provides the majority of the financing (79%) through a loan agreement, with the European Union contributing 19% via a grant, and Cameroon covering the remaining 2%.
