Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority Explores Sustainable Aviation Fuels Roadmap

On August 31, 2026, the Cameroon Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA), in collaboration with the International Civil Aviation Organization (OACI) and with the support of the European Union, launched a comprehensive feasibility study in Cameroon to explore the development of a national Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) sector. This initiative aims to assess the viability of producing and utilizing SAF within the country, focusing on evaluating available resources, identifying appropriate technologies, and determining the necessary conditions for establishing such an industry. The study is also designed to analyze the potential economic benefits, including job creation, the valorization of local resources, and the crucial reduction of aviation sector emissions. The process involves initial expert exchanges, followed by ten days of field surveys with industrial, agricultural, and infrastructure stakeholders, with conclusions anticipated within six months to inform a national roadmap.
