Rwanda FDA Cracks Down on Unlicensed Alcohol Manufacturers

[New Times] In the span of just two days this month, Rwanda's Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) closed eight licensed alcohol manufacturers and recalled at least 38 branded spirits. Within 48 hours, more than 100 additional, mostly unlicensed, production sites were shut down, and dozens of suspects were arrested. While these measures may appear to be a regulatory crackdown, they are, above all, a response to a significant public health emergency.
