NHPC Amends Agreement, Boosts Youth Training Fund to CFAF 300M

Cameroon’s Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training and Nachtigal Hydro Power Company (NHPC) signed an amendment to their partnership agreement in Yaoundé on September 14, 2026, raising NHPC’s financial commitment for the Ntri training initiative to CFAF 300 million, according to the ministry. The funding will support the operation and development of the Ntri training center in Balan Bonjock, within the area affected by the Nachtigal hydroelectric project. The center is intended to train young people from neighboring communities and support their entry into the workforce. Training will cover automotive mechanics, woodworking and garment making. According to the ministry, the amendment includes an additional financial contribution from NHPC that brings its commitment for the Ntri training initiative to CFAF 300 million. The agreement comes against a broader youth employment challenge.
