Lagos Police Take Over King's College Premises After Protests

A contingent of policemen from various formations in Lagos State, Nigeria, took over the premises of Kings College, Onikan, Lagos, on Wednesday, following days of protests by parents concerning the concession of the college to its Old Boys Association by the Federal Government. This deployment saw roads leading to the main gate cordoned off by police vehicles and officers, diverting traffic and effectively dispersing the protesting parents who had engaged in altercations with police and Old Boys Association members the previous day. The police presence coincided with a scheduled meeting of the Old Boys Association, including prominent figures like its National President, Ibrahim Kassim Imam, and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Olumide Akpata, to deliberate on the concession arrangement.
