By August 31, President Tinubu confirmed that all fifteen corps members, along with an additional six abducted persons, had been successfully rescued from a kidnapper's den situated in the forests of Ofu Local Government Area.

A harrowing account from one of the rescued corps members, David Ayodele, revealed the brutality of their captivity, including threats of prolonged detention for a month and execution. Ayodele recounted being subjected to flogging and kicking as they were forced deeper into the bush. Earlier in August, specifically on the 9th, commuters faced abduction in Ofu LGA along the Ojuwo-Ajengo-Memarebo and Ojiwo-Itobe roads.

The Nigerian Army later confirmed that 16 victims from this incident were rescued after troops engaged the kidnappers in a gun battle near Adumu, also within Dekina. Furthermore, on July 16, the Kogi Government announced the rescue of a school principal, a NECO official, and two students who had been abducted during an attack on an examination center in Olowa, Dekina LGA, highlighting the pervasive nature of these security challenges.
