Kasese Police: Hunt Suspect After Man Dies Following Fight

Police in Kasese are hunting for a man identified as Isingoma following the death of his alleged friend after a fight in Muhokya Town Council. The incident occurred at about 11pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in Mutukula Cell, Muhokya Ward, Kasese District. The deceased has been identified as Samson Bwambale, a casual worker and resident of Rutooke Cell in Muhokya Ward. Keep up with the latest headlines on WhatsApp | LinkedIn According to Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, Bwambale and Isingoma had attended a burial in Mahango Sub-county before a disagreement reportedly developed between them. "Preliminary information indicates that on August 9, 2026, at around 8pm, the two friends went for a burial in Mahango Sub-county, where they allegedly quarrelled over food," Maate said. He said the disagreement later escalated into a physical fight as the two men were leaving the burial. "After the burial, as they were moving away, they started fighting. The deceased was hit on the head and fell down. As he tried to defend himself, he was allegedly kicked in the stomach and fell down again," Maate said. Bwambale reportedly became unconscious after the alleged assault and was rushed to St Paul's Hospital in Kasese Municipality for treatment. "Unfortunately, he became unconscious and was rushed to St Paul's Hospital in Kasese Municipality, where he died moments later," Maate said. Police were notified and visited the scene, where officers documented evidence and began recording statements from witnesses. "We are also making efforts to have the suspect arrested so that he can be brought to book," Maate said. Isingoma is said to be a casual worker and resident of Kinyabindi Cell, Muhokya Ward, Muhokya Town Council. Police have urged members of the public to cooperate with investigators and provide any information that could help locate the suspect.
