Preliminary investigations revealed that Hashiru, a driver for a Chinese company, allegedly stole the vehicle from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the vehicle has since been secured as investigations continue to identify other members of the syndicate.

Additionally, the command's Surveillance Unit, part of the State Criminal Investigation Department, intercepted a white Toyota Hilux in Kaduna on August 31. This vehicle was believed to have been stolen from Agadez, Niger Republic. Acting on credible intelligence, officers arrested Abubakar Abdullahi, who was found in possession of the vehicle. Verification of the chassis number confirmed its identity as the vehicle reported stolen from Niger Republic, and it remains in police custody for further inquiry.
