Douala's Sawa Hotel Launches CFA1.73 Billion Upgrade Tender

Douala’s Sawa Hotel plans a CFA1.73 billion upgrade that will add new restaurant, reception and event facilities, six years after an earlier restaurant-building project ended with less than 5% of the work completed. The Littoral Hotel Company (SOHLI), which owns the four-star hotel, launched the tender under an emergency procedure on August 13, 2026. The project calls for a new building with a 300-seat multipurpose room, a 100-seat restaurant with a kitchen and bar, and a reception and lobby area. The contract has an estimated value of CFA1.732 billion including tax. The successful contractor will have up to 18 months to complete the project from the date the start order is issued. SOHLI has shortlisted two companies: Yaoundé-based Groupe SOMAF and Douala-based GEMAT SARL. Both have been invited to submit bids by September 16. The companies already hold public-sector contracts.
