
Cameroon Plans CFA550 Million Wheat Quality Control Lab
Cameroon’s Institute of Agricultural Research for Development (IRAD) plans to build a wheat quality-control laboratory in the Adamawa region to support domestic production and reduce the country’s reliance on imports. On September 8, 2026, the institute launched a tender to select a company to build the facility for CFA100 million, including taxes. The project will be financed through the Integrated Agropastoral and Fisheries Import-Substitution Plan (PIISAH). The future lab will analyze the physical and technical characteristics, microbiological quality and sensory properties of wheat flour and other cereal products. According to IRAD, the facility forms part of the national policy to reduce dependence on wheat imports and develop a domestic industry. CFA450 Million Budgeted for Equipment The tender is open to companies incorporated under Cameroonian law with experience in building and public works. It covers construction of the building and its installations, including electrical, plumbing and ventilation systems. The selected company will have six months to complete the work from the date it receives the official order to begin.
