Kenya·Export Processing Zones Authority Kenya·⏱️ 2 min readWire Summary

After a remarkable 28 and 1/2 years at EPZA, Ms. Evelyn Noah’s curtain at the Authority came down in May 2023. Evelyn joined EPZA in September 1994 as an Executive Officer in the then Finance Department, handling development and donor-funded projects. The United States International University Africa (USIU-A) graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting & Finance) and Master in Business Administration was later redeployed to New Investments Department, currently known as Investment and Corporate Communications Directorate, as a Promotion Executive responsible for promotion and attraction of export-oriented investments, with particular focus on the US and European markets. Her next redeployment was to the Operations and Investor Support Department, now a Directorate, as an Investor Support Executive offering after-care and linkage services to existing EPZ investors. Prior to her early retirement, Evelyn was responsible for the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Linkages and Resource Mobilization Section. The Section manages the EPZ SME Development Program whose aim is to nurture Kenyan SME exporters desiring to set up under the EPZ Program. Other than being appointed and co-opted to numerous EPZA working committees, Evelyn is an expert in the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), having handled the AGOA desk since the inception of the Act in May 2000, as well as in textile and apparel matters, having represented the Authority in local and international forums and events. The EPZA Staff Pension Scheme members, are indebted to her for her commitment, attention to detail and ability to play with words and numbers through the additional responsibilities she took up as the Scheme’s Trustee for 26 years and the Trust Secretary for four years. Her parting shot? EPZA has been home away from home. I am sad that I have to leave but grateful that my time at EPZA has been enlightening and rewarding. I will cherish the associations that I made while here. I wish my colleagues all the best for the future. The EPZA Family wishes Evelyn a wonderful retirement.
