​Climate change knows no national boundaries and cannot be solved by national or local action alone. It is therefore crucial to coordinate climate action across the EU. The aim of the EU's energy policy is to decarbonise the economy and ensure security of supply at competitive prices. It ties in closely with environmental policy, whose overall objective is to protect, preserve and improve the environment for present and future generations.
