Diverse Tourism Attractions Sun & Sand tourism is the main tourist segment in The Gambia. The Gambia is known for its pristine beaches which have long drawn international tourists especially during the European winter season. The short travel time (5-6 hours) from Europe and English being the official language – making communication easier - is also a major advantage. Eco-tourism has growing investment potential, with strong support from the Gambian government to grow this segment. The Gambia is well positioned to benefit from global growth in Eco-tourism, with strong investment opportunities in eco-tourism lodges and tours. This is complimented by The Gambia’s natural assets: the highly navigable River Gambia & the country’s diverse flora (The Gambia is home to over 250 acres of rainforest) and fauna. The Gambia is home to over 600 species of birds.
