CQC: Court Orders £4,102 Fine for Former Director

A former Company Director has today been ordered to pay £4,102.36 after pleading guilty at Barnsley Magistrates Court, following a prosecution brought by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Natalia Kossakowska provided false documents to another claiming that Daisy Home Care Ltd, Balby, Doncaster was CQC registered. This is an offence under Section 36 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008. The court fined Ms Kossakowska £833. She was also ordered to pay a £333 victim surcharge and £2,936.36 costs. Ms Kossakowska provided the false documents to a service user's family and the local authority falsely purporting that Daisy Home Care Ltd was registered with the CQC when it was not. Victoria Marsden, deputy director of adult social care in the north region, said: “It’s unacceptable that Natalia Kossakowska risked people’s safety by deliberately trying to deceive people that her service was CQC registered, by using false documentation. “The registration process ensures providers can meet the standards people should be able to expect and that we demand of them. “Unregistered services operate without oversight, putting people at risk of harm. “When we find individuals operating unlawfully by pretending to be registered with CQC when they are not, we won’t hesitate to act to protect people, as we did in this case.”
