Notice of Revocation of a Power of Attorney in Kenya (Form LRA 8)

A Notice of Revocation of a Power of Attorney (Form LRA 8) is an official legal document used in Kenya to formally cancel a previously registered power of attorney related to land transactions. This jurisdiction-specific form is prescribed under the Land Registration Act and the Land Registration (General) Regulations, 2017, specifically Rule 20. It serves to officially terminate the authority granted to an attorney (donee) and update the Land Registry records accordingly.

This form is intended for property owners (donors), legal representatives, executors, administrators, family members, and advocates who need to revoke an existing power of attorney. Revocation may occur for various reasons including the donor's decision to withdraw authority, death of the donor, bankruptcy or disability of the donor, or death or disability of the donee. The applicant giving notice may be the donor themselves, their legal representative, or another authorized party depending on the circumstances.

The form requires the title number of the property, registration number of the original power of attorney being revoked, and details of the applicant, donor, and donee. The applicant must specify the reason for revocation and attach supporting documents such as death certificates, medical certificates proving disability, bankruptcy orders, or other relevant evidence. The notice must be executed before an advocate or authorized officer who provides a Certificate of Verification confirming the applicant's identity and voluntary execution.

Once signed, verified, and submitted to the Land Registry, the Notice of Revocation is registered officially, terminating the attorney's authority and protecting the donor's property interests within Kenya's land registration system.
